Pass Plus and Motorway driving

What is Pass Plus?

Pass Plus is a certificate that you take as a newly qualified driver which enhances your driving skills.

The Pass Plus course is an opportunity for the newly qualified driver to develop their skills and venture out in traffic conditions which may not be familiar from standard "L" driving lessons. These include:
  • Gain valuable experience safely
  • Build on existing driving skills and knowledge
  • Reduce the risk of a crash
  • Boost confidence
When you successfully complete Pass Plus you will usually qualify for a substantial discount on your motor insurance policy. Most UK motor insurers offer discounts under the Pass Plus scheme.

In light of the importance and success of the Pass Plus course several local authorities are helping pupils with discounts of up to 50% off the full tuition costs. Contact your local authorities belowto see if they can help you with the cost of your Pass Plus tuition.

Pass Plus consists of 6 practical modules of one hour each:

Town Driving All Weather Driving Night Driving
Driving out of town Driving on Dual Carriageways Driving on Motorways

There is NO Test to take

The Instructor will assess your performance as you complete each module. On completion of the course, after reaching a satisfactory standard, the Instructor will issue a certificate to prove you have completed all six modules successfully.

Motorway Driving Tuition

After you have passed your test, we also suggest you take at least 2 hours Motorway Tuition with your instructor before using a motorway alone for the first time. Driving conditions on a motorway differ due to the higher speeds involved. It is necessary to plan further ahead and be aware of the position and speed of other vehicles more than ever before. We can guide you through the necessary skills to drive safe.
