Driving Lessons
Learning to drive is made easier with A-B School of Driving.
Provisional Driving Licence
Firstly, you will need a provisional driving licence, which you can apply for when you are 16 years old, but will only be valid for driving lessons when you turn 17.
Click here for the DVLA website for information about ordering a D1 application form for a new provisional driving licence, or you can pick one up from the Post Office. Applications are generally processed within 4 weeks.

The Highway Code
It is essential to get up to speed with The Highway Code, which contains all the rules and regulations for driving in the UK
As a guide, the DSA (Driving Standards Agency), recommend about 45 hours of professional training combined with 22 hours of private practice. Learners who combine professional instruction with private practice are more successful on test.

Note: This is just a guide from the DSA. There is no set number of lessons that will get you at test standard as each individual learns at their own pace, your driving instructor will be able to assess your progress and give you an estimate to how many lessons you need.
